Day 2 - Copenhagen

Today was gray skies, a little chilly and long train rides.  Because we made reservations, we were guaranteed seats all along the way.  The only place we really needed it was from Hamburg to Copenhagen.  The train either moved too fast, was tree lined, etc so there are not many pictures tonight.

We did get to chat with some very nice people along the way.  The first was a woman from the Netherlands who owned her own floral business -- she imported flowers from Sri Lanka and sold them to wholesalers.  She and her husband spent 10 days in Grand Canyon last year hiking/camping and are going back this year.  Another man who retired from Bose had worked most of his years in the US doing their installations in stores in the US.  Those both were on the trip from Amsterdam to Ornsbruck.  In the Hamburg station at the Bier Bar we met an older gay couple who had not been to the US but spoke rather good English and weren't exactly fond of the US because we have no history and never bother to learn anyone else's language.  They were nice to us and were quite entertaining in spite of not really liking most  Americans.  We shared our private (?) compartment with a Dutch mother and her 10 year old daughter on the trip from Hamburg to Copenhagen.  We is an accountant and they had been on holiday to southern Germany.  The interesting thing about this segment was that the train drove onto a ferry and the passengers climbed to the upper decks for the crossing.  We got into Copenhagen after 8 pm and had to find our hotel which we did rather easily.  Yeah!

We did not see any traditional windmills along the way (Marti).

Copenhagen is beautiful and we are excited to tour it tomorrow!
