We arrived at the train station an hour early. Do you think our type A personalities were on overload? It was much easier toting our suitcases than we anticipated and also our platform was on the main level rather than a long walk to a lower level. A first: technology problems on the train to Copenhagen adds 25 minutes to our arrival time and we had only 21 minutes between trains. At first, I was really upset and prayed hard that God,would hold the other train for us. I know -- what a crazy request. Then I decided that there was a reason for our missing the train so I let it go! Well, guess what! They held the train for late arrivals -- doesn't happen often on the German trains! It not only left of little later, but it was also the same platform just headed a different direction. We made our connection with about 2 minutes to spare! Wonderful answer to prayer!
The guy sitting next to John was a game designer so he worked our entire ride from Copenhagen to Hamburg. He also makes $ playing guitar in the style of Chet Atkins! Interesting!
Second answer to prayer is that the DB took our Visa card without a chip to make reservations so that saved our cash supply. Not only that but the charge was minimum. Think we'll go back tomorrow and do the remaining train reservations!
The metro/underground system here does not give out plastic cards. You don't have to swipe cards to get on the metro -- they do random checks! We found that out from a rider!
Hamburg central is such a surprise -- it's beautiful. More pictures tomorrow. Dinner here at rhe hotel was really good. Good night! Been a long day and need to sleep!
